Wikipedia & media relations

Encyclopedias are built from sources, not budgets.

ViqiPress advises on Wikipedia notability, drafts and updates articles under full paid-contribution disclosure,[1] and runs press campaigns where paid placement and earned coverage are labelled for what they are. We will tell you when the answer is no.

We disclose

Employer, client and affiliation are declared on-wiki before a single edit, as the Terms of Use require.[1]

We don't touch the article

Paid editors are strongly discouraged from editing affected articles directly. We propose on talk pages and submit through Articles for Creation.[2]

We can't promise a page

Notability is decided by independent reviewers against published criteria.[3] Anyone selling you a guarantee is selling you a deletion.

What we do

Four services, honestly bounded.

Two of them touch Wikipedia and are governed by its rules. Two of them are media relations and are governed by disclosure norms for advertising and paid content in India.[6] We never let one pretend to be the other.

01 — Consultation

Wikipedia assistance and consultation

Before anyone writes a word, we assess whether a subject can survive review, and tell you plainly if it cannot. Most enquiries we receive end here, and that is the cheapest outcome available to you.

  • Notability assessment against the general and subject-specific guidelines[3]
  • Source audit: which of your existing coverage is independent, reliable and substantial
  • A written gap report on what would need to exist before a draft is viable
  • Advice for subjects with an existing article, including how to raise factual errors correctly
02 — Drafting

Article creation and updates

Neutral, fully cited drafts written to the manual of style and submitted through Articles for Creation, where independent reviewers accept or decline them. Updates to existing articles are proposed on the talk page with an edit request.

  • Declared paid account with employer, client and affiliation on the user page[1]
  • Drafts submitted via Articles for Creation, never published directly[2]
  • Talk-page edit requests for corrections to existing articles
  • Neutral point of view, including the parts you would rather leave out[4]

What this is notA guaranteed page, a permanent page, or control over what an article says. Once live, an article belongs to the encyclopedia and anyone may edit it.

03 — Paid media

Paid PR campaigns

Sponsored features, paid interviews, syndicated releases and branded content across national and regional titles. Bought placement, planned and negotiated properly, with the label on it.

  • Title selection by real readership, not by inflated media kits
  • Sponsored and advertorial content disclosed as required by the advertising code[6]
  • Release writing, translation and regional distribution
  • Reporting on placement, reach and referral traffic

Read this before you buyPaid placement builds visibility. It does not build Wikipedia notability, because sponsored articles are not independent sources and reviewers discount them.[5]

04 — Earned media

Genuine press coverage

The slower, harder route: giving journalists a reason to write. Data, access, a genuine story and a spokesperson worth quoting. This is the coverage that compounds, and the only kind that counts as a source.

  • Story development and angle testing before any outreach
  • Targeted journalist relationships in your sector, built over time
  • Data studies, founder commentary and expert positioning
  • Crisis and correction handling when the coverage turns

Self-assessment

Would a reviewer accept your article?

Wikipedia notability turns on significant coverage in sources that are reliable, secondary and independent of the subject.[3] Tick what genuinely exists today. Be strict with yourself; reviewers will be.

How we comply

The rules we work inside, in plain language.

Undisclosed paid editing gets accounts blocked and articles deleted, and it leaves the client's name attached to the mess. Compliance is not caution here. It is the only version of this service that survives.

01

We declare the money

The Wikimedia Terms of Use require any editor receiving compensation to disclose their employer, client and affiliation. We do this on the account's user page before work begins, and name the client.[1]

02

We stay off the article itself

The conflict-of-interest guideline strongly discourages paid editors from editing affected articles directly. New articles go through Articles for Creation; changes to existing ones are requested on the talk page and made by an uninvolved editor.[2]

03

We write neutrally, including the bad parts

Neutral point of view is policy, and it applies to paid drafts exactly as it applies to volunteer ones. If there is significant, well-sourced criticism of a subject, it belongs in the article.[4]

04

We do not use Wikipedia's branding

The Terms of Use specifically name misuse of Wikimedia trademarks to advertise paid editing services. You will not find the puzzle globe or the Wikipedia wordmark anywhere on this site, and it will not appear in our proposals.[1]

05

We label paid media as paid

Sponsored features carry the disclosure the publication and the advertising code require. Passing an advertisement off as journalism is a risk to your reputation long before it is a risk to ours.[6]

Paid vs earned

Two different products. Never sold as one.

Both have a place in a campaign. Confusion between them is how companies end up paying for a hundred sponsored posts and still failing review.

Paid PR campaign
You control
The message, the timing, the title, and usually the headline.
Speed
Days. Placement is a commercial booking.
Best for
Launches, funding news, recruitment, category awareness, retargeting audiences.
Wikipedia value
None. Sponsored content is not an independent source.[5]
Earned press coverageWon
You control
Nothing. You offer a story; the journalist decides what it means.
Speed
Weeks to months, and some pitches simply never land.
Best for
Credibility, search visibility, investor and hiring confidence, long-term reputation.
Wikipedia value
High, when it is substantial and in a reliable publication.

Questions

The ones we are asked most.

Can you guarantee my Wikipedia page will go live?

No, and neither can anyone else. Drafts are assessed by independent reviewers against published notability criteria. We can tell you before you spend anything whether a draft has a realistic chance, and we routinely advise people not to proceed.

My article was deleted. Can you get it restored?

Sometimes, but only if the underlying problem has changed. If it was deleted for lack of notability, restoration depends on new independent coverage existing now that did not exist then. If it was deleted as promotional, the answer is a different, neutral draft.

Will anyone know you were paid?

Yes, and that is the point. The disclosure sits publicly on the editing account's user page, naming the client. Attempting to hide it breaches the Terms of Use and puts your article at risk of deletion.[1]

Can you remove negative information from an existing article?

Not if it is accurate and properly sourced. We can request correction of factual errors, poor sourcing, undue weight or genuine policy breaches through the talk page. We will not attempt to sanitise a fairly written article.

Can I just buy a lot of press coverage until I qualify?

No. Sponsored placements are not independent of you, so reviewers set them aside no matter how many there are. Volume of paid coverage does not convert into notability.[5]

What does an assessment cost, and how long does it take?

Write to us with the subject's name and links to the strongest existing coverage. We reply with an initial read, scope and fee before any commitment. Assessments are usually turned around within a week.

Start here

Send the coverage. We will tell you where you stand.

Give us the subject and links to the three strongest independent articles about them. You will get an honest read on notability, and a recommendation that may well be to wait, or to work on earned coverage first.
